What a wonderful old pub. The staff are lovely and the resident beer expert (my partner) pronounced the Adnams Broadside in perfect condition. Food is sensibly pubby and their pies are very good – both steak & ale and steak & kidney were filled with tender meat and good gravy. Veg may have interesting twists like cumin cooked with the red cabbage and carrots tossed in a garlic and herb butter. If you use crutches or a walking frame, access is easy and largely level apart from a few very low single steps between areas. The loos are easy to access and staff very willing to help. Don’t wory if you’re sat in the front room on a windy day – that huge settle does a great job of keeping out the draught.
